In general, we just ask that people follow the direction of the call facilitators and avoid being obviously disruptive.
This is mostly common sense. Basic common courtesy, such as not interrupting others and not personally attacking other members, is expected. All information shared during group sessions should be treated confidentially, as per the confidentiality clause that you agreed to upon signing up.
Aside from that, below is a list of rules that our call facilitators generally enforce. These rules are in place based on our experience hosting accountability groups - we know that they help to ensure that the experience is pleasant for as many people in attendance as possible.
All information shared during group sessions should be treated confidentially. Keep any information shared by NoFap Groups participants within the NoFap Groups community.
Don’t share personal information such as your last name, location, or contact information. We want to create an “anonymous” atmosphere where nobody feels pressured to reveal their identities, since many people want to remain anonymous due to the sensitivity of porn addiction.
Don’t encourage other group members to share personal information such as their last name, location, or contact information. Same reason as the rule above.
Absolutely no recording of conversations or chat log. You may not video record or audio record during meetings. All the information disclosed during an accountability session is confidential.
Avoid interrupting others. Sometimes poor connections can cause lag and delays, so it is important to give people a few seconds after they’re done talking before starting to talk yourself.
Avoid personal attacks. If you disagree with something that someone else says, assume that the speaker is coming from a place of good faith. Remember that we are all here to recover from compulsive porn use. Let’s help each other, and not turn productive discussions into unfriendly debates.
Please keep the the agenda. We're generally here to discuss porn addiction and related issues, not go into depth for 20 minutes about the latest episode of The Walking Dead. These things might be better suited for our forum off-topic area. While, of course, different subjects might come up in conversation, call facilitators will probably redirect the conversation back to porn.
Don't proselytize. NoFap is a non-religious website and our group members come from various walks of life. We want to make sure that everybody is comfortable. While you are welcome to discuss your personal faith while sharing your story, please do not engage in religious discussion with other users who aren't interested in it.
Don't attack demographics, including sexual orientations, religions, genders, races, nationalities, disabilities, etc. Again, we come from various walks of life, from many different countries, and are working together to overcome a common issue.
No flirting with other members of the group. Our accountability groups are not a dating service.
Respect team direction. If one of the call moderators or panelists gives you some direction, rules, or parameters, please abide by them. Otherwise you might be muted, suspended, or restricted from joining future sessions.
